Abstract:
Bayesian statistics offers powerful tools for data analysis, which are not yet fully explored in cosmology. In this seminar I will present some of the subtleties, in particular related to the prior choice, which can be encountered while performing both parameter inference and model comparison in a Bayesian context, with specific examples connected to the study of the neutrino masses and the mass ordering using CMB data. Some time will also be devoted to discuss methods to quantify tensions between datasets in cosmology.
